درباره‌ی ما
مؤسسه فرهنگ معاصر كار خود را از سال 1360 شمسی با تجدید چاپ مجموعه فرهنگ‌های دوزبانۀ انگلیسی و فارسی زنده‌یاد سلیمان حییم آغاز كرد. هرچند مؤسسه در ابتدا، در كنار این فرهنگ‌ها، به انتشار آثار داستانی وغیرداستانی نیز پرداخت، اما هدف نهائی‌اش انتشار كتاب‌های مرجع بود، از این‌رو، در سال‌های بعد كوشید فعالیت خود را به تدریج بر چاپ آثار مرجع متمركز كند.
ما از آغاز اعتقاد داشتیم كه تألیف و چاپ فرهنگ، به دلیل تغییرات مداوم زبان و تحول دانش فرهنگ‌نگاری، فعالیتی نیست كه یك‌بار برای همیشه انجام گیرد، بلكه لازم است بازنگری و نوسازی هر فرهنگ تبدیل به فعالیتی دائمی شود؛ چرا كه حتی جدیدترین فرهنگ‌ها هم بعد از مدتی كهنه می‌نمایند. برای تحقق این هدف گروهی از برجسته‌ترین زبان‌شناسان و زبان‌دانان برای همكاری دعوت شدند و واحد پژوهش در این مؤسسه تشكیل شد. مهم‌ترین فعالیت‌های واحد پژوهش از بدو تشكیل تاكنون عبارت‌اند از:
ویرایش و بازسازی فرهنگ‌های قدیمی، تدوین فرهنگ‌های جدید، و ویرایش و آماده‌سازی فرهنگ‌هایی كه خارج از واحد پژوهش تدوین شده‌اند.
با گذشت سه دهه از تشكیل واحد پژوهش مؤسسه فرهنگ معاصر توانسته است آثار معتبری در زمینه فرهنگ‌های یك‌زبانه، دوزبانه و دائرهًْ‌المعارف‌ها در دسترس دانش‌پژوهان، دانشجویان و دانش‌آموزان قرار دهد.
ما امیدواریم در سال‌های آینده مجموعۀ كامل‌تری از فرهنگ‌ها و كتاب‌های مرجع را برای سطوح مختلف مخاطبان منتشر كنیم.
ABOUT US:
Farhang Moaser Publishers began work in 1981 by reprinting a collection of bilingual English / Persian dictionaries by S. Haim. Although in the early days we published fiction and other books our aim was to print reference books and therefore, in the following years we focused on publishing only reference books.
From the beginning we believed that writing and publishing a dictionary is not something you do once, but due to the constant changes in languages and lexicography this is an ongoing process and dictionaries must be revised and edited constantly, because even the latest dictionary becomes dated very quickly. To pursue this goal, we invited a group of renowned linguists and professors of language to work with us. The most important activities in our research unit have been: editing and revising older dictionaries, writing new dictionaries and preparing,revising and editing dictionaries that have been written outside our research unit.
In the past thirty years since the research unit was first established we have published leading monolingual and bilingual dictionaries as well as encyclopaedias which areavailable to students, researchers and pupils. We hope that in the coming years we can publish an extensive range of dictionaries and reference books for a wide audience, from children to specialists.
